Protean

Protean is the Gangrel art of shape-shifting, source of vampiric myths of claws and wolves. It also offers unparalleled safety for the Kindred caught outside of a city.

  • Beast’s Skin: Allows the Kindred to take the shapes of a few animals at will. You may have as many animals in your “library” of forms as you have dots of Protean. Each form you possess is an individual, and might be recognizable as you to those who have seen it before.
    Only predators and scavengers (no herbivores) are eligible choices for this power, and (with the exception of basic wolves and bats), you may not choose a type of animal you have never fed from. No primates, and this power only allows you to take the form of common variants of a species – no mimicking other individuals, or possessing bizarre or unusual features.

Patagia/Wings/etc. Negates falling damage, minimal controlled glide
Venom Toxicity 3 Ranged attack, must strike a membrane or wound to be effective. Will blind living creatures with a called shot. No effect on vampires.
Quadruped Doubles base Speed, this bonus is not multiplied by Celerity
ex. base Speed 5 with Protean 4 = Speed 10. Activating Celerity 3 = Speed 5 × 4 + 5 for Quadruped = Speed 25
Echolocation/Vibration Sense/etc. +2 to appropriate Perception rolls
+2 to Investigation/Survival/etc. rolls at ST discretion
May reduce and/or negate penalties for blindness/deafness/etc.
